BRIDGE Quantum call 2025: 9 projects approved

Under their joint BRIDGE funding programme, the Swiss National Science Foundation and Innosuisse will be supporting 9 projects in the field of quantum technologies with funding totaling CHF 17.4 million.
As part of the ongoing national Swiss Quantum Initiative (SQI), the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and Innosuisse launched the BRIDGE Quantum call in 2025. In September 2025, 19 project applications were received. Following a two-stage selection process carried out by an evaluation panel set up specifically for this purpose, nine projects are to be supported with funding totaling CHF 17.4 million. This means that 47% of the submitted projects will be supported, as well as 54% of the funds requested.
The selected projects cover a wide range of quantum technologies. Projects in the fields of quantum sensing and quantum metrology, quantum communication, quantum computing and quantum simulation will be funded.
Most of these projects will be carried out by consortia, with a total of 25 researchers from Swiss research institutions involved in the nine projects. Companies within the Swiss quantum technology ecosystem will also be involved as implementation partners – and will make a contribution here through industry-specific expertise or access to relevant infrastructure, for example.
The aim of BRIDGE funding is to promote applied research and innovation in quantum technologies in Switzerland, thereby strengthening the country's position as a hub for innovation in this strategic field.
